Chocolate Louisa’s Old Fashioned
A little extra prep work pays off in this bittersweet Old Fashioned variation. Dark chocolate complements the rye spice notes of the Belle Meade Bourbon. Louisa’s Liqueur brings in flavors of coffee, caramel and pecan and a splash of maple syrup rounds out this cold weather friendly Old Fashioned.

1.5 oz cacao infused Belle Meade Bourbon
.75 oz Louisa’s Liqueur
.25 oz maple syrup
1 dash aromatic bitters
1 dash orange bitters
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice and stir until chilled. Strain into rocks glass over one large ice cube or sphere. Express the oils from orange peel over the top of the drink and insert peel into drink.
To infuse the Belle Meade Bourbon, combine one bottle of bourbon with ½ a cup of roasted cacao nibs in a large container. Stir or shake to agitate and let infuse for at least 4 hours or up to overnight. Strain with cheesecloth and store in an airtight container.
